Caleb's Birthday

Hmm, October, late October I know, but I couldn't not have Caleb's birthday recorded here. With all the kids birthdays within a month of each other, Caleb has a long wait for 'his day'. Caleb had his friends Bryce and Grayson over for the afternoon and had pool games. Caleb requested a fruit birthday cake, as in only fresh fruit, no cake or icing, had to be creative but he loved the result so was well worth the effort. We carved out a watermelon and filled it with layers of summer fruit. It was topped with fruit skewers and a sparkler. He also had a 'real' cake for those that like sugar etc. After a steak lunch and swim, just our little family went out for supper. Caleb wanted to go to a restaurant without Nyah, mainly as at 2 she basically is only patient until some fries turn up. So we went to a Vietnamese restaurant and he ordered prawn rice wraps. It was really nice sitting and chatting with the boys. We went for a wander along the boardwalk and headed home for banana splits. Quite funny how food oriented (as requested by him) his birthday was when he is my least foodie fella. I love 8. True middle boyhood. Caleb is a caring, thoughtful boy. Constantly distracted with grand thoughts about how things work and what he could do as a business. So far he has sold spring flowers at the bottom of the road, but his ideas are endless, from blended fruit drinks, fresh squeezed orange juice, breeding chickens, building go-karts, and on and on. My favourite is his suggestion that I open a childcare that he could work in, and just between you and me, he thinks it is ridiculous that government law insist he be over 18 and qualified to open one of his own. Love you Caleb.
